Medicare: Getting Started - Workshop
In the fall of 2013, Family Healthcare Amigos sponsored the workshop, Medicare: Getting Started, at the Patagonia Community-Senior Center. Representatives from the South Eastern Arizona Governments Organization, Area Agency on Aging, State Health Insurance Assistance Program, were at the workshop to answer questions. The representatives provided unbiased information about the many facets of the Medicare system, to assist participants in determining the best coverage for their individual situations.
In the summer of 2017, two board members were trained by SEAGO to provide additional local assistance on Medicare during open enrollment and prior to birth months of residents turning 65 during the year. These advisers are available by appointment for one-on-one Medicare counseling with SEAGO employees available by phone.
Caregiver Certification - Training Program
In 2013, to serve the needs of our community, Family Healthcare Amigos created a local Caregiver Certification program to train area residents as certified caregivers in the State of Arizona. The Patagonia Regional Community Foundation generously contributed partial funding to the Caregiver Certification program, which assisted in paying for the cost of instruction and materials.
In October, 2017 to serve the needs of our community, Family Health Care Amigos partnered with Patagonia Assisted Care Agency to sponsor training of ten new caregivers. The graduates each received their state certificate and were ready for employment in Santa Cruz county.
